Toboggan or not Toboggan that is the question...

Updated: Mar 8, 2020

Friday was another interesting day or weather and alpine activity.

The morning started bright and clear meeting Hayley and Ryan‘s ski instructors at the top of the Sunnegga lift. That is the top or end of the funicular train.

We skied around the top half of the mountain for the first few runs working out those kinks and some soreness from prior days. The ski conditions on the previous day were notorious with wind and blizzard and a white-out for all the day.

Today the runs at the top were clear with stunning views.

We ran into moving fog for some lower runs and some had been closed. That forced us to move further around and return to some earlier piste runs.

We picked up the kids on one run before they finished. Vasco finished with Ryan after 11:30 but handed him off to Sarah for the last 30 minutes when we met them.

We had lunch at the Petit Royal Cafe which has great coffee and treats. Not appreciated by tired kids with rapid onset of crabbiness.

After we walked through town to the toboggan run where we picked up the train.

Here we are at the station getting on the train and ascending to the 1.5km start of the run.

Here we see the view of the ski runs from the train.

At the start of the run

For the return to the start required hopping back on the train up the mountain

While waiting for run 1 to complete I took the opportunity for sunbathing, hiking, determining who far a hike to the igloo - 20 minutes and watching glaciers melt.

The second run involved lots of prior experience gained from the first run.

The day was complete with more bruises from flying down the toboggan runs at far greater speeds than the course was designed for. Lots of tricky sharp bends and deep ditches off the sides!

We stopped to grab a glass of wine and Prosecco at the 22 Summits wine bar. However, even as quiet as the bar was at this point in time the other attendees were quite the Farty Crowd!

We ended the day with create-your-own pizza at the North Wall Bar

It was an interesting mix of people in the crowd, some that were loud but a lot more Party than Farty!
