We had kids out of school for the Easter break for 2 weeks! To prevent us all becoming stir crazed lunatics we created a mini adventure in the middle!
A recommended destination within the Swiss borders was a quiet resort called Pontresina. This was close to the more well-known St. Moritz resort and the Italian border.
Long Long Way To Go After traveling by train for close to 4 hours we arrived at our stunning hotel, the Kronenhof grand hotel.
Pontresina also has some 300 days of sunshine per year. Great for outdoor activities. Lots cross-country skiing and hiking.
The hotel was known for wonderful and attentive service, with great views across the valley!
Here are some we captured.
We decided to limit our cross-county skiing due to prior injuries and took up hiking! One close by glacier could be hiked to in around 2 hours! Purple minions not withstanding!!
Who Said I Would
Dinners at the Kronenhof are formal and as such jackets are always required! No ties just jackets! Ryan was warned ahead of time and we purchase him the clothing required. He was a little put out but followed along and was quite compliant after a couple of sessions! He even started choosing dishes from the adult menu! It had more steak!
We Said Hello Goodbye
Being Easter the hotel lobby came with bunnies!
One More Hike
Second day of hiking. This time we headed over to St Moritz!
Back in Pontresina we found a store selling clothing that was made using muskox fur!! We learnt an awful amount of detail on how long to extract a useful amount of fur and make the garments.
Take Me Home
Sadly we ran out of days and headed back to Basel!
