Blizzards, Fog and Wind

Well after perfect conditions the previous day we awoke to heavy snowfall. This was predicted and so for the kids ski lessons we had coordinated with their instructors and followed their recommendation to move to the other side of the mountain. This meant a little further travel to get to the meet up point.

This made for a slightly earlier breakfast which Ryan eventually joined us for and then consumed all the bacon the hotel had on offer. The bacon was combined with some Rice Krispies cereal (in a separate bowl) and hot chocolate milk.

Hayley continued her breakfast regimen of dry Rice Krispies and some bread or toast.

Steve and Andi drained the automated coffee machine of espresso and lattes!

The early morning on the mountain was extremely windy up top so since we were already at the midpoint Hayley and her instructor skied down where there was no wind. Just some snowfall.

Here is Hayley and Sarah

Hayley is making great progress and working her turning ability.

And some further skiing

Ryan snowboarding in the blizzard and wind.

We had lunch at the Riffelhaus lodge and restaurant which was great but today the views from the windows were very limited.

Note here I had an Irish coffee and Andi tried the Baileys coffee. It was that kind of day!

Here is a view from one of the windows. If you enlarge the photo and look carefully you can see the train descending back down the mountain. Yay for public transport even up and down the mountain!

We skied some more in the afternoon but fog rolled in the valley below so we stuck with the blizzard and wind. Tough going and not easy to see anything or move very quickly.
