We rode the train to Lucerne and walked a couple of miles through parks along some nice bike paths around the perimeter of the lake to the transportation museum. A very cool museum consisting of trains, planes, automobiles and space travel.
A very interactive museum containing lot of experiments for kids to understand lots of aspects of trains and cars. Here is how to explain energy efficiency with our daily travel options and how it has changed.
We can see our lab rats engaged in some experimentation for science.
The kids discovered for themselves how exactly the rolling resistance of tires on the road compared with train wheels on a track differ greatly in how much energy it takes to travel even small distances or even obtain reasonable speeds. Additional benefits included using up lots of pent-up energy.
There were multiple theater shows for different aspects of the world in terms of geographical locations like North America, Africa or oceanic. We took in the space history and the moon landing from 50 years earlier.
From there we spent time looking at the trains and how the Gotthard Base Tunnel was built. An extraordinary piece of engineering.
Messing about in boats
Flight simulators we took the helicopter option as the wait was shorter than that of the airplane. Shocked at the lack of patience our family shows! Shocked I tell you!
The pilots above preparing for take-off and then there were the nervous backseat pilots, I mean passengers.
There were ways to be a giant
Conversely, ways to be minuscule
There were some ways to be married or regenerate some formal wedding photos in case you lost a couple
Unfortunately, at least for some of us, we ran out of time to see the Swiss Chocolate Adventure provided by Lindt!
Next door is the planetarium, which I am sure we will venture into next time. "To infinity and beyond!"
