It was a rainy Friday and we decided that being Jill and Jeff's final day with us before returning to Oregon. Not wanting to waste any time we recalled a fun time of a previous adventure back in Germany. Andi and Steve had visited Heidelberg a long time ago when Ryan was a little guy and with fond memories and thought it would be a nice opportunity to return for the day.
The train to Heidelberg took a couple of hours or more so we headed out extra early.
Once we arrived we walked through the town to the Heidelberg castle. We figured that would be our main focal point and then see what occurs after that.
Some stunning scenery the closer you got to the Heidelberg castle. The old town is stunningly pretty.
Once we entered the castle through the main gate we were in the central courtyard.
From the central courtyard we could head into various buildings from the apothecary to the entertaining and dining or wine cellar. So guess where I headed first? It was worth it....
Biggest wine barrel you ever did see.
Nice old Church of the Holy Spirit, Heidelberg, interesting windows that were blown out during the second world war.
Where Knights and a Super Hero can hang out in the old town.
