The holiday season begins with the official tree and lighting ceremony. This then becomes the season of the Christmas markets. Lots of Glühwein and Glühbier! Yay!
Christmas markets are all over the center of the city and we visited two of them at the Münsterplatz and at Barfusserplatz.
The Münsterplatz is where the tree lighting ceremony took place. First, the was choirs and songs, then some speeches from local dignitaries and eventually they pulled the plug, so to speak.
The tree was lit!
After which we headed to the market area and ordered some Glüwien and Glühbier! We wandered through the market and took in all the sparkly decorations hanging above from the trees.
